Oil Costs and what it means to us

The last time I had to fill up at a gas station, regular was around 2.00$ a gallon. A lot has changed since i have been at school. Even though i no longer drive... Oil prices still have an effect on my living.
The price of oil per barrel has been on a steady rise everyday. It seems that the price is only going to keep going up as the summer goes on. Most people see this as a very very bad thing. But last night during a meditation a positive aspect came to me.
We as a society and mostly the globe revolve around oil. But now that oil costs are skyrocketing... it is time to rethink out living habits. Suddenly people are beginning to think where they can cut down both in oil consumption but also energy in general. Yes it sucks that it now costs 80$ to fill your tank. But now we are beginning to reshape how we view our energy consumption. Suddenly renewable and sustainable energy is becoming not only mainstream but a potential savior for us. It is no longer just a nice thought to become "green" but a necessary shift. This oil crisis is shaping up to be a blessing in disguise in my opinion.
